On The Street

I find it ironic that in the past I did my best to exclude people from my photography and now here I am photographing people.

The biggest rule I’ve learned in shooting street photography is there really are no hard core rules for my street photography. Except for the legal ones of course.

Because my cameras of choice are smartphones and since I’m shooting on the fly while walking down sidewalks, I don’t have time to stage scenes. Rules of Thirds doesn’t apply til editing time. As for light, I get what I get. As for camera settings, no time, so I leave that up to my camera. And of course, using a smartphone camera means I need to be fairly close to my subjects. It’s both fun and a challenge.

Street Photography really is a different animal from my past photography. It’s something I’m learning as I go along and having a good time while doing it.
